What's on in April

There are quite a few events coming up for Eagles and because we all need more than one handbook these days I thought I should mention them all here.

• On Sat 3rd April there are criteriums for vets down at Hog Hill and you will be able to enter on the line
• The following Sun (4th April) there is a vets road race out at Blackmore.  You should have entered this one if you wanted to ride, but it may be worth phoning the organiser to see if you can get in
• Mon the 5th April is our own Hot Cross Bun randonnee - which is a nice longish ride with a bit of lunch thrown in at Shudy Camps.  Best to let Cippo or Glenn know if you want to do this as they need to know how much food to cook
• 11th April is the Eagle Spring 25 on the E1.  Peter Smith will need your entries 48 hours beforehand if you want to be eligible for prizes
• Saturday 17th April the Eagle is hosting several circuit races down at Hog Hill catering for all categories. Entry on the line for this one.
• And we end the month (or rather starting 1st MAy) with the ECCA festival.   All the festival events you need to enter well in advance and it is probably best to enter them now and not to delay.

There will no doubt be quite a few informal events happening as well so best keep up-to-date with arrangements on our members area. Likewise if you have any questions then make a post to the forum.

Clubroom this Wednesday

We are holding another clubroom evening tonight at Valley Hill, from 8:00 pm onwards. This is a chance to catch up and socialise with your fellow Eagles and plan some races and rides. We had intended to so some powertap turbo testing but unfortunately technical issues will prevent this tonight.  But we do intend to set the powertap up at the following clubroom.

Eagle Road Club Roadmans Spring Hilly TT 14/3/10

First Eagle event of the year tomorrow with our Hilly 25. This is the course that goes out towards Thaxted, back to Debden then back to Thaxted before returning and finishing near Widdington.  Start is at 9:00 am if you fancy coming out to join in the fun. 

Course E1/26 START in lane from Ugley to Elsenham approx 100 yards past railway bridge. Take second left (M) to Henham past the Cock PH and take first right (M) to B1051. Turn left (M) to Thaxted (M) (8.1m) where turn left onto B184 through Thaxted (still on B184) to turn left (M) into unclassified lane just past Howlett End. In approx 1.5 mile turn left (M) at crossroads into unclassified lane through Debden and Debden Cross to Thaxted. Turn left (M) by church (18.1m) onto B184 to turn left (M) into unclassified lane just past Howlett End. In approx 1.5 mile continue straight over crossroads towards Newport and at top of next hill, at second bend, bear left into lane towards Widdington to FINISH Approx 200 yds before T junc. Note: total distance approx 25.0m.

Albert Ayton

The Eagle received some sad news yeaterday with the passing away of Albert Ayton. He was taken ill last Thursday and admitted to hospital and slipped away a few days later on Tuesday, apparently quite peacefully, from pneumonia. He was 89 years young.

Albert's funeral will take place on the 17th March at 2pm, at the Epping Forest Burial Park which is almost opposite the entrance to the airfield at North Weald.
