I have just submitted details of the Eagle to Cycling Weekly under their "Club of the week" series. Hopefully they will let us know when our club will be published so we can all have a good read.
One of the things they ask for is "famous riders who are or have been in the club". This is what I told them
- George White was a founder member of the club and Olympic hopeful. He went on to set many national age records
- Albert Ayton and “Nevvie” Edwards were prolific on the tandem setting many national records
- Tony Woodcock was an Eagle before going on to be an independent, and is still riding today
- Bob Cary was in the Eagle as a youngster and went on to become a professional rider in the 70’s and 80’s
- Ray Eden wore the blue and gold for many years and was national 100 mile champion
- And now we have Phil Hersey who is our first “first cat” roadman and of course Chris Baldwin who is winning national championships in his age category.
