10 mile time trial

It is your last chance to do a 10 mile time trial on the Hobbs Cross circuit this year.  The circuit is a bit of a beast so if you think you are man enough come down and give it a try. Normally ten or so riders turn up, but these events are organised for the whole club, so we would like to see a few new faces. The following week we revert to the Lambourne End course subject to roadworks. The timekeeper sets us off at 8pm - hopefully we will see a few of you there.

Sunday 12th July
There is a gap in the racing diary on this day and Mr Foy has suggested we take the opportunity and organise a nice social ride from the clubhouse.  " No showing off just a nice club run With lots of chat and hopfuly laughter and was thinkin maybe bring some nice pastries and coffee for after let me or antoine know if you are interested and make sure you wear EAGLE".
We have quite a few new members and this will be a good "getting to know you" opportunity. I will be navigating from the back, especially on the climbs, so nobody will get dropped.  We will bring back all that we take out.

Monday 3rd August
We are running an Eagle night at Hog Hill from 6.30 to 9.00pm – the Monday after the final evening 10.

We have hired the lower flat circuit for a series of short events aimed at all levels in the club. We would like to maximise participation, so it needs to be a competitive event for the racing members, but not too intimidating for the non-racing members (young and old) to participate in.

The thinking is along the lines of a track omnium – with a mix of training, short road races and time trials. Possibly split the club into two teams (like Blues and Golds).

National Team Time Trial this Sunday

The Eagle has a team in the National Team Time Trial this sunday and fortunately for those of us who want to cheer them on is on local roads.

The HQ is Sawston Village College (CB22 3BP) and the first riders are off at 6:03. Eagle team of Hersey, Foy and Baldwin off at 6:45. Another early weekend. Distance is 36 miles. We're supposed to have matching skinsuits on the day, so if nothing else it will be a chance to see Damien smile as he becomes officially part of the team with his proper team colours. 33 teams listed as starting, Sean Yates unfortunately won't be among them but Hutch should be if they can still field a team. I know it's early, but the more the merrier and all support gratefully received.

The E2/36 course covers familiar territory, as follows:

START on A1307 in small lay-by approx 0.75m west of Four Went Ways Rbt. Proceed on A1307 to Four Went Ways where take first exit to join A11 northbound. Continue along A11 to join A14 and after approx. 7 miles bear left onto A11. Continue past Suffolk boundary to Freckenham sign, B1085, (Note: there are two exits both signed B1085, the second or most easterly, is the correct exit) and take slip road (M) to ‘T’ junction. Turn right (19.45m) (M) WITH CARE to roundabout. Take third exit (M) to cross over A11 and at next roundabout take third exit (M) to join A11 southbound. Retrace along A11 to join A14 at Newmarket, then after approx 7 miles keep left to rejoin A11 to FINISH at far end of long lay-by approx 0.75 mile before Four Went Ways intersection
