Well it is the last Sunday in the month of September this weekend and time for the club house club run. Tony Meader and I will be opening the club house around 8.30 am for a 9am start sharp. We will ride in the region of 50miles with a tea stop some where along the route. If anyone would like to join us then just turn up at the club house in time for the 9am start
You may have noticed that the clubhouse is in need of a little tender loving care. There is, most probably, a whole range of jobs to do. But the thing that has been on my mind is getting the clubhouse protected for the winter.
With that in mind I made a trip down to Homebase and bought some wood preserver. That was last week, and this afternoon I have spent a couple of hours painting one of the panels with the preserver.
I do not want all the glory so I have left the brushes and the gear up there in the bicycle shed so any members can come up and carry on the necessary work. It's best to bring some old clothing as it can be a little messy at times.
Having missed out on recording a fifty time on the E1, Chris ventured north in search of an open course. He found the Yorkshire RC 50 promotion on the V259 and plainly liking the course he posted a time of 1:52:56 for ninth place.
I believe that puts Chris ahead of Phil Hersey in the club championship.

For those of you that weren't up on the E1 last Sunday, the news is that our open 50 had to be cancelled. We found the road through Six Mile Botton closed at the railway crossing preventing riders reaching the far turn. A real pity as we had a fantastic morning for time trialling.
This Sunday is the Eagle's Open 50, the only open time trial we organise. Stephen Hodges is organising the event this year for the first time and he needs all our help to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Please make the effort to support Stephen and the Eagle this Sunday.
Chris and Damien have been duelling for the Ayton throphy for the fastest 25 time. Both have recently done 54 minute times, but Chris is edging it at the moment, with 54.19 achieved on the VTTA 25 on the E2. The week prior Damien posted a 54:26 in the Shaftsbury MM.
It's also going to be close between Chris and Phil for the club championship - Chris needs to get inside a 2.01.42 in the Open 50 to edge ahead in the competiton. Phil can't make the event as he is on his holidays.
The new Hog Hill circuit seems to suit some of our riders. We had some decent results in some of the first events at the circuit. Damien got an 8th place at the Southend Wheelers race last weekend and James got 9th place at the Team Economic Energy crits this Saturday.
