Well the 3rd August is fast approaching and no doubt your all be lining up on the start line to race the Willsher 50?
Well not only is it the day of the 50 but also the clubs open day! And the members that have been in the club for a number of years myself included will remember that the open day ment that all the members descended upon the club house and its grounds to enjoy a family day inviting their families and friends to join us! You’ve only to look at some of the old photo’s to see that it was a very popular event in the clubs social calendar. But like a lot of things over the years the numbers have dwindled, a real pity really!
But don’t despair because I am inviting you all to come up for the day, inviting your families and friends too. And since the club is celebrating its 85th year the committee have agreed to lay on a Bar B Q free of charge. Yep it is going to be more than just a carrot that will be dangled in front of your eyes to tempt you out of your armchairs and make the effort! We will be laying on hamburgers / Cheese Burgers / Hot dogs / Chicken kebabs / French Sticks / Salad and Savoury Rice. (Please bring your own beverages i.e. Beers, Spirits, and soft drinks) The club will provide Tea and Coffee.
I will be bringing up my rollers if any one fancies having a little dabble. If anyone has another pair then perhaps you would so kind has to bring them along too? We will have a friendly footy match as well as a game of rounders. And if anyone has an idea on running a quiz afternoon then feel free to organise it, Im sure the club will be happy to put up a prize for the winner!
So come on Lads and Lasses lets make this day a day to remember, especially all the recently new members. As the saying goes “you only get out what you put in”!
Don’t forget to bring your shorts and flip flops as well as your comfy deck chairs, sun tan lotion (hopefully) and your knotted hanky (that’s for the over 45’s, Cor blimey gov that includes me!).
For all those of you that genuinely will be coming can you let me know as soon as possible with your numbers of friends and family so we can get enough food in but obviously we do not want to buy in loads only to have to throw it away! Also let me know if you’re a veggie!
Kind Regards
Cippo
