Eastern Division RR championships

Phil Hersey rode in the Eastern Division RR championships and managed to gain 20th place. The winner was Adam Norris of the Heron Cycle Sport.

LVRC Road Race

Damian and Dave rode in an LVRC Road Race near Blackmoor. Damian and Dave were involved in the breaks throughout the race, but the race came back together at the end. Damian got third overall in the sprint (and second for his age group). Craig Stevens was the winner.

Hitchen Nomads 25

Garth did the Hitchen Nomads 25 and got a time of 58.40. Michael Hutchinson won with 47 something.

Evening 10 round one on th E10/10

The results of the first evening 10 competition.  This is the Lambourne End course which is very sporting and not conducive to fast times.

Phil Hersey breaks the Eagle 10 record

Phil Hersey competed in the national ten mile championship on Sunday. It was held near Liphook, Surrey, on the P881r course which is on the A3.

The conditions were damp - light drizzle, overcast, cool, with virtually no wind - there were lots of personal bests, so the conditions were obviously fast.

Phil deserves our congratulations because he managed to come equal 63rd with a time of 20:40 which, which is a new pb and club record.   The winner was Michael Hutchinson with an amazing time of 18:07, beating Tony Gibb (2nd place) by a huge margin - 43 seconds.

Lea Valley 10

Last Saturday Phil Hersey took part in the Lea Valley 10 on the E2 course. There was a moderate north east wind and although it was cloudy and the roads were a little damp it remained dry for the event.

Phil managed to get within 8 seconds of our new 10 mile record recording a time of 21:21 for a share of 13th place.

Michael Hutinson won with 18.54 !!

Tour of the Cornfields

Damian and Phil are entering the Tour of the Cornfields. It's a off road sportive event that's on 31 August. It's 58 miles and its around South Cambridgeshire. Anyone else fancy doing it?

Message from Chris Baldwin

My 2007 Cervelo Carbon Soloist (red with black and white flash, no CSC branding) was stolen from my car this morning (smashed window) while loading car in Clerkenwell for Dunton races this afternoon.

58 cm frame, Campy Bora wheels with mix of Continental Competition and GP4000 tubs. Campy Record chainset and Campy Chorus Groupset otherwise, Keo carbon Ti pedals. Deda Supernatural 44 cm bars and 130 stem. Specific marks from use on all major components, wheels and frameset, immediately identifiable by me and only one I've seen with similar setup in the UK. Reward for info of anyone trying to flog either the parts or bike. Please help me out by not buying this at a great discount on ebay or some other site as it will be confiscated if found to be used in any European event.

Man, I'm not happy. Thanks loads.

Club 25 Result

This event was originally scheduled to be our interclub bash with the South Eastern which will now be held later in the year.

Seven riders troubled the timekeeper on what turned out to be a wonderful sunny day. Some good rides in there, perhaps most notably Ben's which was his first attempt at the 25 distance.

ECCA Road Race

The Eagle had a few riders in this year's ECCA road race. In the 3rd and 4th Cat event Ben Preston finished in 4th spot, with Chris Baldwin and Simon Hewins further down the field in 37th and 43 rd place respectively.

Chris Baldwin reorts "There were 6 riders off on a break from the start for the next 45 miles, but never getting much more than a minute gap on the bunch. Ben, Simon and I rode together quite a bit in the chasing group. After catching the break, I went off on the attack like a puppy let off a leash and held it with a Crest and another rider for a few miles but as we pressed onto the finish at 51 miles the group caught us and it was up to Ben to take over as the attacker. Simon is still chuckling about watching me work my tail off as the wind came up behind the bunch and pushed everbody forward at about 30 mph. The race average speed was on the high side for 50+ miles at 24.9 mph, and we all finished within a few seconds of each other."

Ray Eden took part in the Elite / 1st / 2nd cat race and finished in 20th place.
